Dachshund Stories

Suzi and Sammi (aka

There’s a lot to be said for this particular breed. Some is quite endearing as dachshunds are known for their intelligence and faithfulness. In addition to that, they are watchdogs extraordinaire! Other traits, however, are less attractive. For example, dachshunds are extremely hard to house train. Can you say hard-headed? Grazing is also a speciality. I can certainly understand why. After all, even when they’re holding their heads up, their mouths are less than eight inches from the ground! Worms and bugs simply don’t stand a chance in the back yard! And those black, slimy slugs who bask on blades covered with early morning dew? Yum! To our girls…that’s just more protein!

These are our “girls,” Suzi and Sammi. They are pretty adorable but we had nothing to do with that. We are, however, responsible for their being spoiled. Suz (the beautiful black & tan) is six and Sam is five. You’re right, though. She does look older. Perhaps belonging to us has aged her prematurely?

Anyway, the purpose of this page is to enable me to share stories about our miniature dachshunds with you. Sadly, however, some of the tales may turn out be those “You had to be there to appreciate the humor” kind of stories — but perhaps I’ll manage to write in such a way that you’ll at least get a tiny chuckle out of reading them.
